About The Position

Temp ENGINEER III – PUBLIC WORKS Bring your Professional Engineer expertise to a senior-level role where you’ll independently manage complex public works and development projects that protect public health, enhance infrastructure, and strengthen the community. Project Leadership: Take ownership of highly technical civil engineering projects from planning through completion. LOCATION : Vancouver, WA SALARY : $50.58 per hour SCHEDULE : Full-Time, Monday–Friday 8am – 5pm, Temporary, 6 months – 1 year, possibility to extend

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field.
  • Active Certified Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience, including plan review, transportation, or stormwater design.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering assignments with limited oversight
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, regulatory standards, and project management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and certify complex design plans and specifications for transportation, drainage, sewage, and related public infrastructure projects.
  • Review residential and commercial development proposals for compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections and evaluate feasibility, drainage, soils, structural conditions, and long-term performance.
  • Perform advanced engineering analyses, technical research, and cost estimates to support project planning.
  • Prepare and review contracts, design agreements, grant documentation, and technical reports.
  • Lead pre-bid and pre-construction meetings and provide technical guidance to stakeholders.
  • Oversee construction to ensure compliance with approved plans; review progress and authorize payments.
  • Resolve contractor and property owner issues and represent Public Works at public meetings as needed
