The Contract Administrator is primarily responsible for managing and resolving customs fines, drafting interchange agreements and other contract documents and overseeing document storage and retention schedules. In this role you will support a centralized process that creates a cohesive, uniform response to contract changes. Your oversite will help eliminate the potential harmful effects of two or more Landstar operating companies reviewing and responding to the same contracts. We are seeking a self-starter who can work independently and is comfortable supporting processes that are not one size fits all. Those who enjoy problem solving and have the ability to provide a customized approach for each customer should apply.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of professional administrative experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Analytical skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret contract content and construction
  • Excellent organizational, communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and against deadlines
  • Skilled at re-prioritizing work due to changing conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree (A.A.)
  • One year of experience working with customs or in the transportation industry

Responsibilities

  • Handle custom fines and penalties for investigation and payment.
  • Draft Custom Powers of Attorney and interchange agreements.
  • Enter updated custom entries in shared database.
  • Manage, organize and prepare files and documents into and out of department.
  • Conduct periodic audits of stored documents to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and track the erosion schedule for document retention and destruction.
  • Examine contracts received for compliance with Landstar's established policies.
  • Identify contract provisions that would place Landstar at risk and negotiate provisions that would minimize or eliminate risk to Landstar.
  • Issue letters and maintain files for customer transmittal, follow up, and/or cancellation correspondence.
  • Prepare reports and provide regular updates to management on customs fines, document status, and agreement activity.
