About The Position

CHEMetrics, LLC located in Midland, VA, and a subsidiary of AquaPhoenix Scientific, has an immediate opening for a first shift Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance Lead. This is a full-time, exempt position that will play a pivotable role in enhancing our operational efficiency, product quality and customer satisfaction. This is an excellent opportunity to serve in a capacity that will make a positive impact in a small manufacturing operation. Responsibilities include serving as the primary advocate for Lean and CI initiatives as well as leading process improvement activities. The candidate will provide support and guidance across all Company functions to drive Lean behaviors, targeting elimination of waste from our manufacturing and business processes. The applicant will also lead events and employee interactions focused on organizational improvements using various Lean tools to maintain objectives. In this blended Lead role, the candidate will also provide support to management by maintaining the CHEMetrics Quality Management System (QMS) to include managing product instructions, label printing, and serving as company Document Control Officer. Although not all inclusive, additional job responsibilities and skills will include: Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and be able to easily adapt to changing priorities. Perform work cell process and/or product audits to support improvement focus efforts. Lead and participate in routine department engagement huddles while promoting company lean and continuous improvement initiatives and objectives. Provide training on the QMS and regulatory programs. Update training materials based upon changes to program/policy/procedures. Serve as the on-site coordinator for safety initiatives and projects. AquaPhoenix Scientific considers applicants with diverse backgrounds, education, and work experience; however, applicants for the Continuous Improvement Lead and Quality Assurance Lead position will frequently have a combined education and/or work experience that is at minimum a high school diploma or equivalent and at least five years or more work experience in a lab environment or related field. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a laboratory, manufacturing or related environment with demonstrated experience leading Continuous Improvement initiatives in a manufacturing setting
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, etc.)
  • Experience conducting internal process and/or product audits
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and document control processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with ERP and document control systems is preferred
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and shifting priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality, Operations Management or related field is preferred
  • Experience with ERP and document control systems is preferred
