Our location in Portsmouth, Virginia currently has an opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Engineer. The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing and implementing operations and business process improvements for the Toxicology Portsmouth US warehouse and distribution center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain management or other related/relevant discipline
  • 2-3 years’ experience in relevant fields such as logistics, operations site management or supply chain

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, creates and implements operations and/or business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, reduce work in process and improve quality, cost and delivery performance.
  • Completes capacity analyses internally for headcount, equipment and space requirements to continuously improve layout, product flow, and workstream efficiency in the warehouse receiving, picking & replenishment, and packing& shipping operations.
  • Identifies opportunities and drives incorporation of appropriate lean tool usage such as 5S, time study, line balancing, standard work, material flow and value stream mapping, process mapping and Kaizen event into the daily functions of continuous improvement and operational excellence (OpEx).
  • Makes recommendations to leadership for projects/activities required to drive lower cost and lower labor-requiring operations within the distribution and warehousing functions.
  • Partner with site finance team to ensure improvement programs are linked to concrete financial results.
  • Develop and lead continuous improvement projects, working cross functionally to implement changes that deliver savings across the business.
