About The Position

The Continuous Improvement Coordinator supports plant operations by driving process optimization, standardization, and waste reduction. This role partners with production, engineering, quality, and skilled trades to improve safety, quality, and productivity while supporting GMS principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in manufacturing operations, Lean principles, or continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of GMS, standardized work, or UAW environments preferred.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support GMS initiatives including 5S, standardized work, Kaizen activities, problem solving, and visual management.
  • Analyze processes to identify waste, variation, and improvement opportunities; implement sustainable countermeasures.
  • Assist in meeting production, quality, and cost targets through Lean/synchronous manufacturing techniques and operational excellence (opex)
  • Support launch and pilot activities in assigned areas and help drive operational readiness.
  • Use structured problem-solving (5‑Why, A3, 8D) to address and resolve quality and productivity issues.
  • Promote a safe work environment and support goals for ergonomics, safety, and housekeeping.
  • Build positive relationships with hourly/salary employees, union partners, and leadership while consistently administering National and Local UAW-GM Agreements.
  • Coach and mentor Group Leaders on CI tools, performance management, and GMS expectations.
