About The Position

Villanova University's first-year seminar program, the Augustine and Culture Seminar Program (ACSP), seeks to hire one full-time continuing non-tenure track (CNT) faculty member with an expertise in Biblical Studies (Hebrew Bible, New Testament) or Judaic Studies (e.g. Jewish theology, culture, history) to teach its two-semester humanities seminar. With a reading list grounded in the Augustinian, Catholic, and liberal arts traditions, the Augustine and Culture Seminar (ACS) is reading-and-writing-intensive and also facilitates student engagement in the intellectual, cultural, and artistic life of the University and the greater Philadelphia area. Students from all four colleges (Liberal Arts & Sciences, Nursing, Engineering, and Business) take the two courses (1000 Ancients and 1001 Moderns) in this collegial program taught by 20+ full-time faculty from a wide range of disciplines. A signature feature of the first-year experience at Villanova is the Communitas: First-Year Learning Community program that is a result of the coordinated effort between ACSP and the Division of Student Life. Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian Order.
