About The Position

As a member of the UW–Madison Interprofessional Continuing Education Partnership (ICEP), the School of Medicine and Public Health Office of Continuing Professional Development (OCPD) delivers accredited continuing education planned by, for, and with the healthcare team. OCPD collaborates with departments across the School of Medicine and Public Health, UW Health, the Schools of Nursing and Pharmacy, professional associations, and community-based organizations to advance the ICEP mission. We are seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative professional who is passionate about planning and delivering high-quality, outcomes-driven continuing education for healthcare teams in an academic environment. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, mission-driven setting and brings a strong commitment to educational excellence and innovation. The successful candidate will: Be a skilled project manager and education planner, meticulous about logistics, timelines, and compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies. Be comfortable working independently in web-based learning management systems and managing multiple projects simultaneously—on time and on budget. Thrive in a team-based environment, while also being self-directed and proactive. Demonstrate creativity, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement and professional development. Communicate effectively, give and receive feedback constructively, and maintain grace under pressure. This position is primarily responsible for providing full conference management services for 35+ accredited continuing education activities annually, including in-person and virtual conferences, workshops, and webcasts. These activities reach more than 70,000 healthcare professionals across Wisconsin, the U.S., and internationally. The workday includes: Collaborating with OCPD staff and subject matter experts to design, develop, and execute educational activities. Managing the implementation of planned activities, including building and maintaining content in the ICEP Learning Portal. Navigating a variable workload—some periods may involve long lead times for a few activities, while others require preparing for multiple events in a short timeframe. This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Requirements

  • 2 years of employment experience applying adult learning principles to the planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of continuing education activities for health professionals.
  • Experience engaging adult learners from multiple health professions in both virtual and in-person learning environments, with an emphasis on interprofessional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects in a continuing education or professional development setting, including coordination of timelines, budgets, contracts, stakeholders, and deliverables.
  • Professional experience in planning and executing educational events, such as conferences, workshops, webinars, or enduring materials, preferably in a healthcare or academic environment.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) or continuing education platforms for activity registration, content delivery, learner tracking, and outcomes reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including faculty, clinicians, administrators, and external partners required by the start date of the position.

  • Experience supporting accreditation compliance with one or more recognized bodies, such as the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education™, or specialty board certification programs (e.g., MOC/Continuing Certification).
  • Familiarity with academic medical center environments, including their structures, cultures, and expectations for education and professional development.
  • Knowledge of interprofessional education (IPE) and team-based learning principles, and their application in continuing education for healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage conference event logistics in support of the intended outcomes.
  • Directs operational logistics of specialized programming segments and communication materials under general supervision
  • Advises activity planners regarding interprofessional continuing education accreditation compliance.
  • Researches and selects curriculum content, assists with the development of course specific materials and resources, and prepares assessment tools regarding specific programs to align with unit objectives and strategy
  • Disseminates course updates and newly created content with program stakeholders, solicits feedback, and alters curriculum if appropriate
  • Serves as an initial point of contact and facilitates cross-unit communication with colleagues and accreditation resources to obtain relevant and accurate information for the program
