About The Position

The New York State Senate is seeking a proactive Content Writer to join the Senate Services Department. This role focuses on enriching content provided to members and the public, requiring strong writing skills, research capabilities, and the ability to produce engaging online content. The ideal candidate will contribute to branding, marketing, and public outreach efforts, ensuring consistency across various communication platforms.

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a Content Writer, Copywriter, or similar role
• Portfolio of published articles or written work
• Experience doing research using multiple sources
• Familiarity with web publications
• Excellent writing and editing skills in English
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, English, journalism, or closely related field
• Two or more years of professional writing experience
• Familiarity with digital communications techniques, including social media

Responsibilities

• Research industry-related topics using online sources, interviews, and studies
• Write clear content to promote members, their districts, and state resources
• Proofread and edit posts before publication
• Submit work to editors for input and approval
• Coordinate with relevant departments and stakeholders to illustrate materials
• Ensure all-around consistency in style, fonts, images, and tone
• Update website content as needed
