About The Position

The Content Writer/Editor will play a critical role in crafting compelling, accurate, and impactful content across the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s communication channels and initiatives. This position is responsible for writing and editing a wide range of materials including press materials, statements and op-eds, web copy, newsletters, social media copy, campaign messaging, speeches, talking points, reports and donor communications. The ideal candidate is a mission-driven storyteller with excellent editorial skills, a solid background in Jewish and Israel-related topics, a passion for clarity and accuracy, and experience translating complex topics into engaging, accessible content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Public Affairs, or related field.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of professional writing and editing experience in a nonprofit, advocacy, media, or communications setting.
  • Exceptional command of written English, grammar, and AP style.
  • Demonstrated ability to write for both Jewish and diverse audiences—from policymakers to educators to the general public.
  • Strong editorial judgment and fact-checking skills.
  • Passion for the mission of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, the Museum of Tolerance and Moriah Media, and an understanding of issues related to antisemitism, human rights, and social justice.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with content management systems, email marketing tools, and basic design platforms (e.g., Canva or Adobe InDesign) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation Write and edit content for a variety of audiences and formats including: Press materials, statements and op-eds, talking points Website and blog content Email marketing and newsletters Social media campaigns Speeches for senior leadership Donor and partner communications
  • Editorial Oversight Ensure all content reflects the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s mission, voice, and tone. Review and copy edit submissions from departments across the organization for consistency, clarity, and grammatical accuracy. Maintain editorial calendars and coordinate deadlines across teams.
  • Messaging Development Collaborate with leadership and subject matter experts to distill complex historic, policy, educational, or advocacy topics into concise, persuasive content. Support cross-departmental campaigns by providing high-quality writing that advances communications, programmatic, public affairs goals, and fundraising goals.
  • Project Coordination Work with communications, digital, development, and museum teams to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent writing/editing projects. Assist in the production of collateral and printed materials for key events, exhibits, and initiatives.
