The Content Systems Engineer is a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting mission-critical, cloud-native media systems across ABC OTV. This role drives the architecture and integration of scalable, secure, and resilient broadcast and content workflows, ensuring alignment with business, marketing, and entertainment objectives. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, manages third-party providers, and influences the strategic direction of next-generation broadcast and storage solutions. The position requires deep technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate enterprise strategy into actionable system designs and roadmaps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Broadcast Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of broadcast or post-production engineering experience
  • Advanced knowledge of media workflow and orchestration systems (e.g., Telestream Vantage, IBM Aspera, Dalet Galaxy)
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS EC2, S3, Lambda, AWS media services)
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
  • Experience with on-premises virtualization and storage solutions (e.g., VMware, NetApp Storage, Dell EMC Isilon)
  • Familiarity with broadcast hardware (encoders, decoders, video routers, etc.)
  • Understanding of live video transport protocols (SRT, RTMP, RTSP, NDI, etc.)
  • Familiarity with post-production workflows (transcoding, archiving) and non-linear editing, VFX, and motion graphics software (Adobe Creative Suite, Maxon CINEMA 4D, DaVinci Resolve)
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement cloud-native and hybrid workflows
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including Tier 2/3 support
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and adapt to changing requirements
  • Ability to work early mornings, late nights, holidays, and weekends as needed for outages and/or maintenance windows, and participate in the department’s on-call rotation.
