About The Position

The Content Marketing Strategist at Chapman University will lead the development and execution of the content marketing strategy for the Strategic Marketing and Communications (SMC) department. This role involves creating diverse marketing content aimed at enhancing undergraduate and graduate recruitment efforts, collaborating closely with various teams to ensure alignment with the university's branding and communication goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or English, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in marketing content and search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Excellent storytelling skills with a focus on marketing writing for digital
  • Solid editing and proofreading skills
  • At least 6 years of experience in writing, communications, public relations, content creation, or marketing
  • Willingness to learn and implement best practices for digital writing and SEO
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized and responsive to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Continuous improvement mentality and proactive work style
  • Understanding or willingness to learn marketing automation tools and tactics
  • Competence with common platforms (Outlook, Google Drive, Google Docs)

Responsibilities

  • Create content for university recruitment marketing campaigns
  • Develop and help implement a unifying content marketing strategy, in tandem with SMC's Director of Content Strategy and leadership and marketing teams
  • Write diverse marketing collateral including ads, email copy, social media content, web copy, stories, print collateral, video scripts, and more using the Chapman brand voice and tone
  • Research and gather information to support content creation
  • Work closely with admission subject-matter experts to understand the timelines and needs of undergraduate and graduate recruitment
  • Create web content utilizing SEO best practices
  • Participate in content planning, including story development for university magazines, e-newsletters, and campaign deliverables
  • Review and understand SMC's key goals, audiences, and channels to ensure content alignment
  • Research and report on content marketing trends
  • Participate in the development of marketing campaign plans and creative brainstorming
  • Conduct developmental editing, copy editing, and proofreading tasks for team- and partner-generated content
  • Plan and coordinate photo and video shoots as directed
