Content Intelligence Manager

Continental GeneralAustin, TX
$125,000 - $145,000Hybrid

About The Position

CONTENT INTELLIGENCE MANAGER (Full Time, Salary, Exempt) Looking to join a growing company dedicated to helping others? We offer that, plus competitive salaries, a culture of learning, and a fast-paced environment. This is a hybrid position with 3 days in-office. Join our team to help make a difference in the lives of others! About Continental General: The Continental General family of companies has provided insurance, including life and long-term care policies, to individuals and groups for over 30 years, and currently supports over 200,000 policyholders. Both our insurance company, Continental General Insurance Company, and our third-party administrator, Continental General Services, are committed to the continuous development of our infrastructure, processes, and people. The group is actively growing through expansion of both its insurance portfolio and its administrative services. With each opportunity, we take a collaborative approach to address challenges and provide unique solutions. Position Summary: The Content Intelligence Manager leads the transformation of our enterprise content management function from a traditional document storage and workflow operation into an AI-powered enterprise content intelligence capability. This role owns the document repository, workflow, correspondence, and print operation platforms. Print Operations consists of external print vendors and internal print & mail services. It also drives intelligent document processing initiatives across the enterprise and builds a team that extracts measurable business value from the organization's content assets. You will be building something new by leading a team with deep institutional knowledge of our document platforms and insurance operations into AI-powered content processing, intelligent automation, and modern API-first architecture. The Content Intelligence team operates within a regulated Life, Annuity & Health insurance environment. Autonomous delivery and intelligent solutions must be built within the boundaries of HIPAA, SOC 2, and State Department of Insurance regulations. The aspiration is to push right to the edge of those boundaries, not to avoid them, but to maximize the value of autonomy within the constraints that protect policyholders and the enterprise. The organization follows principles derived from Team Topologies and Amazon's Single Threaded Owner model. Domain delivery teams are supported by platform teams (Infrastructure/Cloud, IT Operations) who manage organizational commons such as AWS account management, core networking, and edge ingress/egress. Enablement teams (DevOps, QA) provide knowledge resources and maintain separation of duties, with DevOps holding administrative authority over final production deployments. An umbrella security team provides overarching governance. An AI Steering Committee sets enterprise AI strategy and governance guardrails. AI consultants are available to teams for tooling landscape evaluation and guidance. The primary AI development vehicle is Claude Code via AWS Bedrock, but the toolchain is explicitly non-fixed. The landscape is evolving rapidly, and these teams are expected to evolve with it, evaluating, adopting, and discarding tools as the technology advances. The organization empowers teams to find the right tools for their needs while maintaining alignment with enterprise governance. Role Context: The Content Intelligence Manager owns the content platform, which can comprise multiple systems, and is responsible for leading the transformation of the Content Intelligence team from a traditional Enterprise Content Management team. This role is accountable for ensuring that content is intelligently managed, easily discoverable, secure, and governed. You are also accountable for the coordination, performance, and strategic direction of the Content Platform team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
  • 8–12 years of experience in software engineering and technology leadership, with substantial experience in AI-driven delivery environments.
  • Proven track record of leading multiple technical teams simultaneously, delivering complex solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience scaling AI-native delivery practices across an organization.
  • Strong strategic thinking — ability to connect technology investments to business outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture and modern delivery practices.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks in regulated industries (HIPAA, SOC 2, State DOI or equivalent).
  • Proven talent development track record — building teams, developing leaders, retaining top performers.
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with budget management and resource allocation.

Responsibilities

  • Document Repository(s) Architect and maintain the document repository platform(s), including infrastructure, application configuration, performance tuning, production health, and storage optimization.
  • Plan and execute version upgrades, patches, and environment management for all repositories.
  • Manage application security configuration, including user roles, permissions, and audit logging.
  • Maintain configuration documentation, architecture diagrams, and runbooks.
  • Design and build an integration layer that enables AI services and value stream teams to interact with content programmatically, without direct repository integration.
  • Develop and maintain workflows, integrations, and business rules.
  • Design event-driven architecture patterns where document events trigger downstream AI processing pipelines (document stored -> classify -> extract -> validate -> route).
  • Partner with Cloud Operations on reliability, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Content Creation Architect and maintain the Correspondence platform(s), including infrastructure, application configuration, performance tuning, and production health.
  • Optimize template performance, processing throughput, and output quality.
  • Maintain the template library with version control, testing standards, and documentation.
  • Support the domain delivery teams with template development requests and content strategy implementation.
  • Build and maintain integrations between the Correspondence and source systems.
  • Coordinate with Cloud Engineering on infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and environment management.
  • Design and implement AI-assisted content generation, enabling LLM-generated content to flow into compliant templates within compliance guardrails.
  • Manage output channels, including print, email, portal delivery, and archive to document repository(s).
  • Ensure all generated correspondence meets insurance regulatory requirements for the applicable jurisdictions, along with any print requirements (including page sequencing, duplex/ simplex settings, paper stock selections, color vs. mono, and enclosures)
  • Print Output Design and maintain print output configurations for all correspondence types according to the external print vendor’s specifications.
  • Build and maintain manifest and control files that accompany print output, containing job metadata (job ID, piece count, page count, mail class, return address, insert codes, SLA tier).
  • Optimize print output for production efficiency: group by mail class, batch by SLA, and consolidate multi-page documents for the same recipient into single envelopes (householding).
  • Configure selective suppression rules to identify correspondence that should not be printed (e.g., customer opted for electronic delivery, address is undeliverable, duplicate detection).
  • Configure National Change of Address (NCOA) processing to update addresses before print production.
  • Build and maintain secure file transfer for transmitting print-ready output and manifest files to the print vendor.
  • Build automated reconciliation for outbound print and vendor production confirmations by flagging discrepancies in piece counts, page counts, or mail dates.
  • Collaboration & Organizational Alignment Align with the enterprise AI Steering Committee on governance, strategy, and evolving AI standards.
  • Consult with organizational AI consultants on tooling landscape evaluation and emerging capabilities.
  • Work with domain delivery teams, business stakeholders, and vendor representatives to translate business needs into intelligent, AI-native solutions.
  • Provide transparent communication to stakeholders and leadership on delivery status, risks, and progress.
  • Compliance & Governance Operate within the regulatory frameworks governing Life, Annuity & Health insurance, including HIPAA (protected health information), SOC 2 (security controls), and State Department of Insurance regulations.
  • Ensure that AI-driven delivery pipelines and autonomous solutions maintain full auditability and compliance with enterprise security policies.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices, including authentication and authorization protocols (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML), API management, data protection, and encryption.
  • Understand and respect the regulatory boundaries that constrain autonomous delivery and AI-native solutions, maximizing autonomy within those constraints rather than circumventing them.
  • Continuous Evolution Stay at the forefront of AI engineering capabilities, emerging tools, and evolving delivery paradigms.
  • Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and AI capabilities for applicability to the team's domain and delivery model.
  • Evolve personal and team delivery processes toward greater autonomy, efficiency, and quality.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation and innovation within the team, encouraging the exploration of new approaches while maintaining delivery commitments.
  • Level-Specific Responsibilities: Lead and develop a team with diverse roles, such as content engineers and solution builders, to ensure consistent delivery standards and team health.
  • Own delivery accountability by aligning team capacity and priorities to strategic business objectives.
  • Shape the organization's AI-native delivery strategy in partnership with the AI Steering Committee and technology leadership.
  • Own compliance accountability across the team, ensuring HIPAA, SOC 2, and State DOI regulatory requirements are consistently met.
  • Manage vendor relationships, evaluate partnerships, and make build-vs-buy decisions for our content platforms.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of organizational content and information management needs.
  • Drive cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing, ensuring innovation and best practices propagate across the team.
  • Provide strategic communication to senior leadership on delivery outcomes, risks, investments, and opportunities.
  • Manage budget and resource allocation, optimizing for delivery outcomes and team sustainability.
  • Develop and lead a content migration and modernization strategy for legacy platforms.
  • Ensure observability across the content platform to ensure a high level of user satisfaction.
