About The Position

The Content and Resource Development Specialist develops and maintains high-quality, accessible information, resources, and programs that support APH community-facing initiatives, including the ConnectCenter and related platforms. This role leads the planning, development, review, and ongoing improvement of content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with APH’s mission and accessibility standards. Additionally, this role collaborates with subject matter experts and field professionals to translate research, lived experience, and best practices into practical tools that support job seekers, service providers and individuals experiencing vision loss. This position ensures consistency, quality, and usability across community-facing content while supporting coordinated messaging and resource integration across APH programs. While ConnectCenter is a primary focus area, this role may support additional APH community-facing platforms and initiatives as assigned. Strong writing, technology, and interpersonal skills are essential. This role reports to the Senior Director of Outreach Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education, social work, vocational rehabilitation, or related field required.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience working with blind, low vision, or deafblind individuals.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with families, peers, and partners.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to lead or manage projects independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, with the ability to develop professional documents, presentations, and reports.
  • Note: A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered when competency in the role is demonstrated.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree or specialization in blindness/low vision or orientation & mobility.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English and additional languages as applicable.
  • Experience designing high-quality educational materials and developing and implementing programs.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, while working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in using technology in educational settings, including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Zoom.
  • Skilled in collaborative planning, coordination, and execution of initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the full lifecycle of community-facing content, including planning, development, review, updates, and retirement, ensuring alignment with APH priorities.
  • Develop, write, and maintain high-quality, accessible content and materials (including newsletters and training resources) that support employment, independent living, and related initiatives.
  • Ensure all content meets APH accessibility, quality, and style standards while supporting content governance, review, and approval processes.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, advisors, and internal APH teams to strengthen content accuracy, relevance, and alignment across platforms.
  • Utilize content management systems and digital platforms to publish, organize, and maintain materials effectively.
  • Stay current on research and industry trends, applying insights to improve content and support outreach, collaboration, and professional engagement opportunities.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
