The Role The Logistics and Container Program Integration Engineer role will direct and coordinate the activities required to ensure on time delivery of Logistics and Container cost estimates at a GM optimal cost for current and Future Product Programs (Vehicle /Powertrain). Work involves a great deal of integration and initiative with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Logistics, Containers, Plants, Suppliers and Program Teams. You will act as a liaison between purchasing, engineering, warehousing/manufacturing, logistics and suppliers to resolve issues and to provide support. . What You’ll Do Develop future program Container investment commitments Integration of Container plan and estimate with cross functional organizations including: Manufacturing Engineering, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain, Program Teams, and the plants Support the TEC process in balancing lowest total cost to GM Development and analyze future program plans for specialized containers Support the development, analysis, and implementation of cost savings initiatives, including alternative container designs, level of assembly, bundling, and supplier footprint optimization Perform cost and cube analysis for alternative transportation modes Perform part nesting studies to optimize container density Perform business case analysis to aid in the selection of appropriate containers, logistics modes and equipment type, allocations, and supplier footprint in support of Product Program estimates. Support Purchasing by providing alternatives for reducing Container investment Support Purchasing by providing Container plan estimates Respond to critical capacity studies by analyzing current assets against future requirements.
