About The Position

The Role The Logistics and Container Program Integration Engineer role will direct and coordinate the activities required to ensure on time delivery of Logistics and Container cost estimates at a GM optimal cost for current and Future Product Programs (Vehicle /Powertrain). Work involves a great deal of integration and initiative with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Logistics, Containers, Plants, Suppliers and Program Teams. You will act as a liaison between purchasing, engineering, warehousing/manufacturing, logistics and suppliers to resolve issues and to provide support. . What You’ll Do Develop future program Container investment commitments Integration of Container plan and estimate with cross functional organizations including: Manufacturing Engineering, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain, Program Teams, and the plants Support the TEC process in balancing lowest total cost to GM Development and analyze future program plans for specialized containers Support the development, analysis, and implementation of cost savings initiatives, including alternative container designs, level of assembly, bundling, and supplier footprint optimization Perform cost and cube analysis for alternative transportation modes Perform part nesting studies to optimize container density Perform business case analysis to aid in the selection of appropriate containers, logistics modes and equipment type, allocations, and supplier footprint in support of Product Program estimates. Support Purchasing by providing alternatives for reducing Container investment Support Purchasing by providing Container plan estimates Respond to critical capacity studies by analyzing current assets against future requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field required
  • 5+ years related experience required
  • Strong systems and MS Office skills, particularly MGO, APM, MOR, and advanced Excel
  • High analytical capability where problems are ambiguous and complex
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Ability to both work independently and as a member of teams
  • Ability to lead a project from start to finish
  • Detail oriented and data driven
  • Capability to provide strategic vision for future Container program plans
  • Energetic and passionate to find solutions to complex supply chain problems
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction
  • Makes decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure; able to make a quick decision
  • Strong working knowledge of Container system sizing and engineering
  • Basic working knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain Engineering

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of the Manufacturing Planning Study process
  • Working knowledge of Teamcenter and VisMockUp
  • Knowledge of container design types and cost drivers
