About The Position

True North FCU is a member-owned, full-service credit union, and our mission is to provide quality financial solutions for our members. We are seeking an experienced consumer loan underwriter to join our team. This position supports the consumer lending process by analyzing loan requests and rendering credit decisions. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, sound judgement and ability to foster solid relationships.

Requirements

Proven ability to exercise independent, high-quality judgement
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, credit reports and supporting documentation
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Nice To Haves

Three to five years of related experience.
Associate degree or completion of specialized course of study or job-specific skills acquired through apprenticeship

Responsibilities

Underwrite all non real-estate related consumer loan types
Make independent credit decisions, including approving, declining, or escalating loan requests as appropriate
Serve as a subject matter resource for loan officers, providing guidance on complex or higher-risk lending scenarios
Coordinate and prioritize the flow of consumer loan applications to support timely processing and member follow-up
Monitor consumer lending trends, borrower quality, and exception requests, and report insights to management
Track underwriting timeliness and service standards, escalating delays or recurring issues as needed
