About The Position

POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for receiving, reviewing, and processing applications for consumer loans, home improvement, second mortgage, home equity, credit card, and overdraft account loans. Meets with applicants to explain credit policies and to obtain additional loan information and documentation. Assembles and evaluates loan applications. Presents loan requests above the lending limit for approval per loan. Ensures that members and prospective members are promptly and professionally served. Provides general Credit Union information and cross -sells services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Assumes responsibility for effectively receiving, reviewing, and processing loan applications. Interviews, takes applications, gathers information, and processes preliminary documentation on loan requests. Evaluates and verifies loan applications and credit criteria. Computes debt ratios. Verifies employment and income. Determines the value of collateral. Approves loans within the limits of authority and notifies applicants of loan decisions. Requests additional information if required. Coordinates and processes closings. Ensures that each loan is promptly and properly prepared, documented, processed, approved, and disbursed. Calculates terms, finance charges, and insurance on loans for proper disclosure on promissory notes. Assists in servicing loans by processing such items as payoff, refinances, problem loan workout arrangements, address changes, payment extensions, collateral releases, and payment due date changes. Assumes responsibility for filing vehicle titles and prompt follow-up on titles still pending. Verifies car insurance coverage. Makes car appraisals. Sells credit union products and services. Performs duties of area personnel, as required. Ensures that lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and are legally compliant. Ensures that loan requests are properly documented. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relationships with members. Resolves members' requests and questions promptly and courteously. Provides blue book values and answers questions regarding government loans and real estate policies. Keeps members properly informed of Credit Union loan policies and services. Ensures that the Credit Union's quality and professional reputation is projected and maintained. Upholds the SSFCU Service Values. Counsels members regarding money management and financial matters. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with area personnel and with management. Assists area personnel as needed. Assists other Loan Officers. Completes reports and records promptly and accurately. Type loans and all supporting documents as required. Ensures appropriate credit union documents are scanned. Attends meetings as required. Keeps Management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. Actively and professionally cross-sells Credit Union services. Stays informed regarding local and national economic conditions and legal and regulatory changes. Ensures proper maintenance, cleanliness, and security of work area, desks, equipment, etc.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Some college preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 months previous teller experience or similar
  • Knowledge of basic financial institution regulations
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Service-oriented, including ability to assist others with a positive attitude
  • Able to analyze accounts, possessing solid math skills
  • Focused and attentive to detail
  • Utilizes confident decision-making skills
  • Well-organized
  • Possesses strong business acumen and professionalism
  • Able to use computer and all related business equipment
