About The Position

A Consumer Loan Channel Specialist is responsible for the processing and support of all consumer loan channels offered by Lake Trust including, branch, phone and online originated loan applications. This person has a passion for quality and efficiency, consistently going above and beyond to provide the best possible experience to both internal and external members. This person is adaptable and works well as part of a collaborative team to ensure that the efficient processing of loan applications is completed accurately and on schedule, while ensuring phone and email coverage and availability during support hours. A Consumer Loan Channel Specialist has a natural ability to learn and adhere to credit union policies. This person is skilled at heads-down and transactional work and is able to skillfully uncover needs to consistently provide seamless lending experiences in a timely manner via phone and email. A Consumer Loan Channel Specialist is comfortable working to build strong working partnerships with Onstage Loan Originating MEAs and takes ownership of managing in-process loan applications and following up until they have been closed. This person identifies opportunities for and collaborates with others to successfully implement process improvements and ensure that tools and resources are meaningful and kept up to date in a rapidly changing environment. This position is primarily at the Brighton Headquarters.

  • Proficient in basic computer / office equipment use.
  • 2 years previous financial institution experience, 2+ years lending or processing experience required.
  • 2+ years customer service experience required.
  • Knowledge typically acquired through obtaining a bachelor’s degree

Responsibilities

  • Have experience with and apply process and support knowledge at a Subject Matter Expert level for consumer lending.
  • Advise on opportunities to advance members’ financial well-being by looking for cross-sale opportunities and acting as a financial coach to members.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to member emails and manage loan queues.
  • Provide loan decisions to applicants including pre-approvals, counter-approvals and denials.
  • Explain stipulations required to close loans.
  • Set member expectations for loan processing.
  • Handles consumer loan processing, honoring documented procedures and guidelines.
  • Manages support issues for originating MEAs.
  • Review and verify applicant’s supporting documentation and process according to documented procedures and guidelines, including but not limited to income verification, address verification, purchase agreements, dealer invoices, title copies, 10-day payoffs, releases of lien, insurance declaration pages, and credit card statements.
  • Satisfy underwriting stipulations.
  • Obtain collateral details and values, obtaining comparable values when necessary.
  • Work with underwriting when necessary, where additional relevant information is obtained during loan processing.
  • Verify VIN and place lien with third party dealerships and marinas.
  • Obtain 10-day payoff or release of lien from third party financial institutions.
  • Accurately and efficiently prepare loan closing documentation for DocuSign or in-person signatures and disbursement.
  • Validate departmental processes and procedures for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify issues and/or process improvement opportunities.
  • Identify knowledge gaps with internal members.
  • Coach and mentor peers by working collaboratively and promoting teamwork in order to achieve Lake Trust goals.
  • Provide support for team members who are serving on project teams.
  • Participate in Loan Huddles and Loan Process Team meetings.
  • Perform system testing when necessary
  • Pursue learning and development activities. Share knowledge with teammates.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules.
  • Deliver on our Brand Promise and GUIDE principles with internal / external members and third-party vendors, demonstrating positive behaviors that promote high morale, collaboration, and open communication.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements, as well as the completion of all assigned training.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
