About The Position

The Loan Servicing Supervisor is responsible for supervising the loan servicing and processing functions of the Consumer Lending Department and advising the loan processors on policy exceptions and other questions. The Loan Servicing Supervisor’s primary responsibility is to ensure that we provide our members with the best possible service during the duration of their loan. In addition, the Loan Servicing Supervisor will assist in the coordination of the efforts between processing and servicing of direct loans, indirect loans, and Visa within the Consumer Lending Department. Perform all responsibilities in a manner that serves The Summit’s Mission and upholds the credit union’s values.

Requirements

  • Education: B.A., B.S. required or commensurate work experience
  • Experience: Three to five years of experience in consumer lending processing and servicing. Management experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of our relationship with Velera.
  • Familiarity with lending regulations that govern financial institutions, preferably credit unions, is desired.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • In depth understanding of the credit union’s products and services
  • Excellent sales and service coaching skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret new loan/visa regulations and modify loan/visa processing policies and procedures to comply with new requirements
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in both verbal and written form and effectively to large groups
  • Must be able to act independently and make effective decisions in a reasonable time frame
  • Must have the ability to identify and correct areas of inefficiency
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment
  • Microsoft Office Suite, particularly: Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Office equipment (i.e. calculators, computers, printers, copiers, multi-line phone systems and fax machines)
  • Intranet/Internet, navigation of web-based vendor systems, and utilization of teller & banking software

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the department maintains a high level of service to our members.
  • Responsible for pipeline management for loans and visas.
  • Manage direct reports adherence to current policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of and adhering to regulatory and investor compliance, regarding all loan and visa products.
  • Ensure sensitive, confidential, and proprietary information is properly secured
  • Have working and continuous knowledge of all regulatory and compliance regarding loan and visa servicing and be a subject matter expert (SME) regarding our loan and visa servicing platforms.
  • Ensuring proper documentation is completed accurately and submitted is accordance to Velera’s policy for Visa promotions, program updates, and rate updates.
  • The Loan Servicing Supervisor has the authority to approve consumer loans in accordance with the limits prescribed in the policy.
  • On a needed basis, the Loan Servicing Supervisor will act as backup and underwrite an appropriate share of new direct and indirect loan applications.
  • Provide regular coaching or training sessions that are applicable for all direct reports.
  • Complete and deliver the annual performance reviews of all direct reports.
  • Develop, train, and coach all direct reports to ensure a high level of productivity and service.
  • Maintain proper and accurate employee records as required.
  • Maintain open communication with all staff members.
  • Must be able to complete monthly and annual reports, as assigned.
  • May be assigned to work on and complete special projects.
  • Review processing procedures on an annual basis and make updates accordingly.
  • Complete monthly audit of Visa file maintenance performed.
  • Review the monthly paid ahead report.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
