The Consulting Manager/Senior Consulting Manager role involves managing workstreams within various client projects, including procurement-related operational and opportunity assessments, strategic sourcing, category management, spend assessments, and other procurement and supply chain consulting activities. The successful candidate must be able to interact with clients at all levels, including executives, possess a strong consulting and client management background rooted in project management, quantitative and presentation skills (data analytics, advanced Excel & PowerPoint), and have extensive Procurement experience. This role requires the ability to take direction and produce quality work without detailed oversight. The company seeks a self-starter, fast learner, organized individual who thrives in teamwork and possesses a can-do attitude, expecting their voice to be heard and to participate in strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with a consulting firm is required
  • 6+ years of experience in procurement, either consulting or as a practitioner
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent from a top-tier school or a school with a well-recognized procurement or supply chain program
  • 3+ years of experience managing direct reports and directing project teams
  • Proven track record of managing consulting projects to a successful outcome, working with ambiguity, unclear requirements, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage engagement teams supporting clients in pursuit of strategic cost reduction initiatives, including: Opportunity assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage engagement teams supporting clients in pursuit of strategic cost reduction initiatives, including: Sourcing strategy development & execution
  • Demonstrated ability to manage engagement teams supporting clients in pursuit of strategic cost reduction initiatives, including: Supplier performance management
  • Demonstrated ability to personally manage clients through all phases of the most typical strategic procurement initiatives, including: Sourcing opportunity assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to personally manage clients through all phases of the most typical strategic procurement initiatives, including: Functional procurement assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to personally manage clients through all phases of the most typical strategic procurement initiatives, including: Strategic sourcing (scope development, RFx development, proposal assessments & contracting)
  • Demonstrated ability to personally manage clients through all phases of the most typical strategic procurement initiatives, including: Supplier performance program development, organizational transformation, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage advisory engagements through all stages, proposal & contract development through final delivery, resolving problems, mitigating delays, and escalating issues as appropriate
  • Must possess expert-level skills with financial assessments, data assessments, MS Excel (including pivot tables), creating charts and graphs, and creating MS PowerPoint presentations
  • Must have the ability to travel to client sites on an as-needed basis

  • Support internal firm-building initiatives such as: Scoping, market, and supplier research
  • Support internal firm-building initiatives such as: RFx (development, management, and evaluation)
  • Support internal firm-building initiatives such as: Supplier evaluation & selection
  • Support internal firm-building initiatives such as: Negotiations
  • Support internal firm-building initiatives such as: Operational improvement & innovation
  • Support internal firm-building initiatives such as: Business development and practice development efforts, including but not limited to the development of knowledge capital, proposal, and RFP responses
  • Support internal firm-building initiatives such as: Benchmarking
  • Support internal firm-building initiatives such as: Client Research
  • Support internal firm-building initiatives such as: Employee Development
  • Support internal firm-building initiatives such as: Managing resources and managing clients or internal projects
  • Lead teams of consultants, analysts, and other staff members to oversee client support and services
