About The Position

The Injury Management (IM) team is responsible for providing high level advice and working in partnership with Department of Health (DoH) business units to ensure effective management of workers’ compensation matters, injury management and return to work activities. We are a values based team who work collaboratively with workers and business units to provide a responsive, contemporary, inclusive approach to assisting workers recover from injury. The working environment is largely office based but may require occasional intrastate travel. The Role: The Consultant - Workers Compensation and Liability is responsible for: The assessment and determination of liability of workers compensation claims. Providing specific high-level HR advice to DoH executive members and business unit managers on Workers Compensation and Injury Management. Promote and contribute to the development and maintenance of strong communication links with HR and its clients.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated high-level human resource management skills with knowledge and experience in a wide range of HR Services with a specific focus on Workers Compensation, Injury Management and Work Health and Safety, and an ability to apply them in the Tasmanian State Service and Agency context.
  • Demonstrated strategic, conceptual, diagnostic and analytical skills including the ability to provide high-level advice and consultancy services on HR issues at a range of levels and to broker appropriate solutions in a complex environment.
  • Working knowledge of the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988, Work Health and Safety Act 2012 and an understanding of, and the ability to interpret, other relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Well-developed skills and experience in project management and policy development including a proven capacity to undertake major research, investigations and reviews, as well as experience in planning, evaluation and implementation.

  • Completion of or undertaking, Certificate IV in Personal Injury Management or an equivalent qualification
  • Current Driver’s Licence
