The Group Benefits team is looking to add an experienced Quality Engineer to help build a quality excellence program with repeatable and predictable processes. Demonstrated abilities to build meaningful reporting metrics to measure performance of the testing program, delivery of code to Quality Engineering, the ability to prevent production escapes and drive improvement to overall availability. This role will help with the creation of the overall testing program for the Group Benefits team. Someone with skills and qualifications using Playwright is a plus as that is the platform that will be used for Group Health Benefits. Key Responsibilities Own and evolve the QA program for assigned application suites, including defining testing strategies, standards, and best practices across manual and automated testing. Lead and mentor Quality Engineers and other delivery team members (directly and through matrixed leadership) in QA practices, test design techniques, and effective defect prevention and detection. Drive change in QA processes and tooling by identifying gaps, recommending improvements, gaining alignment across stakeholders, and overseeing implementation and adoption. As a Quality Engineer you will plan and conduct a wide range of software quality tests and analyzes to ensure all application products and services meet organizational standards aligned to their quality management approach, as well as, end-user requirements. Quality Engineers perform our quality planning, quality design and execution. You will focus on a blend of skills enabling efficient execution of risk-based testing, test automation, performance testing, test data management, test environment management, continuous integration and continuous deployment all improving speed to delivery for our business partners.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate quality risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Deep knowledge of QA/QE planning, test design techniques, and quality risk management.
  • Strong development skills with focus on automated testing.
  • Programming skills in .Net, Angular, etc. is preferred.
  • Experience with using CI/CD is expected. Azure DevOps is preferred.
  • Jira (GitHub) or other management tools are acceptable.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and releases concurrently, solve problems, and set priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and gain alignment for quality-related changes in process, tooling, and ways of working.
  • Comfortable leading through change and ambiguity, with a continuous improvement and servant-leadership mindset.
  • Six to eight years of experience with using test optimization and automation processed and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in testing for agile teams including planning, test plan creation, maintenance and execution.
  • Good understanding of test automation and optimization throughout a stack and the tools to support.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for Playwright but experiences with other automation tools such as Tosca, Selenium or others are acceptable.
  • Technology certifications including TOSCA Automated Specialist 1 (AS1), TOSCA Automated Specialist 2 (AS2), or other related designations are preferred.
  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the QA program for assigned application suites, including defining testing strategies, standards, and best practices across manual and automated testing.

  • Drive change in QA processes and tooling by identifying gaps, recommending improvements, gaining alignment across stakeholders, and overseeing implementation and adoption.
  • Oversees procedures to ensure all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements.
  • Serves as an expert in the analysis and reviews requirements, user stories and technical work products to create the automation needed.
  • Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Defines and manages multiple test plans, strategies, results reporting and metrics.
  • Uses the appropriate quality engineering tools to define test data management, test automation, security/vulnerability, performance, and regression testing needs.
  • Manages moderate to complex defects including identifying, tracking, and providing critical thinking for resolution.
  • Considers and drives the end users’ experience during the software development life cycle.
  • Is proactive in managing leading indicators of quality in test plans and approaches while ensuring speed and efficiency.
  • Partners with Infrastructure & Operations and Architecture on test data and environment management plans.
  • Sets the release test strategy (including all release life cycle testing phases).
  • Oversees the coordination of all release testing efforts (including all phases of testing during the release life cycle).
  • Aligns with the Nationwide automated testing reference architecture.
  • Complies with release management process governance and timelines throughout the release.
  • Acts as a source of direction for associates.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
