Why This Role Matters ERM’s Impact Assessment & Planning (IAP) service is one of the fastest-growing areas in our global business, supporting major projects in power, technology, infrastructure, and more. As a Biologist , you’ll play a critical role in ensuring environmental compliance and sustainability for large-scale utility projects in Northern California . Your expertise will help our clients achieve success while minimizing ecological risks. What Your Impact Is Provide biological expertise for vegetation management operations and maintenance activities for a major California utility. Develop Biological Resource Assessments and support CEQA/NEPA documentation. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permitting requirements, influencing project outcomes that protect sensitive habitats and species. Collaborate with a dynamic team of environmental professionals to deliver high-quality, timely solutions. What You’ll Bring Required: Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or related field (or equivalent experience). Or equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience in environmental consulting or biological work in Northern California. Strong technical writing, organizational, and communication skills. Knowledge of federal and state regulations (ESA, CESA, CEQA, California Coastal Act). Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment with a collaborative mindset. Commitment to safety and adherence to health protocols. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. Preferred: Master’s degree in Biological Sciences or related field. Experience in the power sector and environmental permitting processes. Familiarity with special-status plants and animals in Northern California. Key Responsibilities Prepare Biological Resource Assessments and related technical documents. Support CEQA and NEPA compliance, ESA Biological Assessments, and CDFW 1602 permits. Maintain scope, budget, and schedule expectations while ensuring quality deliverables. Build strong relationships with project managers, clients, and internal teams. Contribute to project coordination and assist with deputy project management tasks. For the Consultant, Biologist position, the anticipated annual base pay is $73,145 – $87,932 USD. Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
