The Construction Technician will assist installation and other teams with the customer activation of fiber-optic telecommunication services in various residential settings, including single-family homes, condos, and apartments. This involves pulling low-voltage wire, installing and servicing full video services (analog, digital, HD TV), and installing, servicing, and disconnecting telephone and internet customers, including punching down telephone lines. The role requires maintaining a safe work environment, installing CAT5/CAT6 drop wire and connectors, and troubleshooting video, telephone, and internet problems from the telecommunications demark to customer premise equipment, including IP issues. The technician will also install ancillary equipment, test and tone wires, install RF In-Building cellular systems, perform equipment and system repair, maintenance, and testing, and identify/acquire parts. Additional duties include installing conduit/pathways by trenching, excavating, and hand digging, using RF test equipment (PIM unit, Line Sweep Tester, Light Meter), utilizing construction documents for site builds, coordinating utility locates, implementing traffic control plans, and troubleshooting electrical circuits, RF radios, and omni-directional antennas. The technician is responsible for planning installations to minimize waste, ensure future maintenance access, and avoid hazards, consistent with specifications, safety codes, and local electrical codes.
