About The Position

Great American Restaurants is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead construction projects and day-to-day job-site execution for restaurant construction, remodels, and capital improvement projects. This role serves GAR’s primary on-site representative and is responsible for ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, commercial building systems, and mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
  • Hands-on experience coordinating subcontractors and managing day-to-day field activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose field issues and implement practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with contractors, operations teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial construction, facilities maintenance, or a related field; restaurant or hospitality experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily job-site activities for construction, remodels, and capital projects.
  • Coordinate all trades, vendors, inspectors and deliveries.
  • Maintain job-site safety, quality, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Manage sequencing to keep work moving and prevent delays.
  • Act as GAR’s on-site representative during construction activities.
  • Enforce construction standards and design intent.
  • Hold general contractors and subcontractors accountable to expectations.
  • Coordinate inspections and support punchlist completion.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Identify constructability, coordination, and sequencing issues – particularly related to MEP systems.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Construction leadership to resolve issues.
  • Support turnover to Operations by ensuring systems are installed and functioning as intended.
