About The Position

Midnight Sun is seeking a qualified dual-hat Superintendent/SSHO to support a Federal contract with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in Charleston, South Carolina. This person will report to the Project Manager and work with the Quality Control Manager to maintain an on-site while all contract work is being performed.

Requirements

5 years of combined experience as a SSHO and Superintendent on federal contracts.
High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field highly desired.
Knowledge of construction and safety standards and regulations including, but not limited to: CFR 1910, CFR 1926, OSHA, EM 385-1-1
Knowledge of U.S. Coast Guard safety standards, and environmental protection protocols related to marine and coastal operations.
Knowledge of construction materials, methods, testing procedures, sequencing, scheduling, and daily field operations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software tools such as RMS/Procore.
Familiarity with marine equipment and vessels, such as barges, cranes, winches, and workboats.
Strong client service and field coordination skills.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain progress toward project milestones.
Ability to work in dynamic outdoor environments, including exposure to water, variable weather conditions, and tides.
Swimming proficiency with PPE or other protective gear required.
CPR/First Aid certification.
OSHA 30 certification.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain and maintain client site access.

Nice To Haves

USACE/NAVFAC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage and supervise all activities including, but not limited to confined space entry, cranes and rigging, excavation/trenching, fall protection, and electrical.
Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain documentation as needed or required.
Complete safety inspection logs and includes with the Contractors' daily production.
Review the APP and AHAs for compliance with EM 385-1-1, and approve, sign, implement, and enforce them.
Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
Formulate, recommend, and evaluate policies, procedures, and standards to ensure safety practices are consistent with prescribed federal and state regulations.
Participate in meetings with Architects and Engineers to assess scope of work and sequencing; value-engineering, and other input as needed.
Collaborate with the project team to develop staffing requirements, labor productivity rates, cost estimates, constructability reviews, execution planning, submittal logs, schedules, and subcontractor engagement.
Maintain an on-site presence while work is being performed to coordinate, oversee, and direct subcontractors and vendors.
Participate in site visits and meetings to assess scope of work, site conditions, and logistics to determine necessary resources to deliver project success.
Prepare, provide, and track Request for Information (RFI's), Change Orders, and job progress reports to include labor and equipment usage.
