Position Summary: CHN is looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent who will be responsible for overseeing all facets of construction for Single Family Preservation, from project conception to successful project completion. This position will work closely with other SFP staffers and oversee third-party contractors and trades in a variety of programs and be responsible for administering home repair and acquisition rehabilitation projects through the construction period, punch list completion and project closeout. This includes managing the project budget, timeline, and compliance with funding requirements. The rate of pay for this position is $75,000 per year (FLSA Exempt).

Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated skill in group discussions.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and associated tools, and ability to learn new construction software.
  • Strong negotiating skills and sound political acumen.
  • Ability to read, interpret and evaluate construction documents.
  • Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Ability to take initiative and improve efficiency of work responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of home repair and rehabilitation projects across multiple programs.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to coach other staff members as requested on deal-specific and procedural questions.
  • Thought contributor in CHN’s delivery of single-family preservation and rehabilitation work.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field which may be supplemented with experience.
  • Experience: Three to Five (3-5) years of experience in Single-Family rehabilitation, Single-Family remodeling, Single-Family new construction, affordable housing.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and access to a car.
  • This position requires travel to all CHN service areas primarily within a 3-hour radius.

Responsibilities

  • staff project kickoff meetings and ensure all details and intentions of each project are understood and met from the project outset
  • attend and contribute to site walkthroughs on a regular basis, and closely oversee third-party contractors and trades to consistently ensure timely project completions, while developing strong working relationships with said partners
  • regularly review construction documents to ensure compliance with building program requirements and perform field/safety inspections and ensure onsite compliance with OSHA standards
  • procure necessary project permits, including coordination with local municipality staff and politicians
  • provide solutions to problems as they arise, and you will provide leadership on new project types, ensuring consistent successful construction close-out and coordinated turnover of property
  • ensure that all product warranties and installation warranties are properly retained and passed on to the clientele as needed
  • facilitate positive relationships with other CHN departments and outside agencies to ensure successful project completion
  • learn and utilize BuilderTrend and/or other construction management software/app and effectively utilize it to efficiently manage construction projects
  • help develop schedules in Buildertrend and/or other construction management software/app and adjust as necessary to meet project deadlines
  • inspect work performed and approve invoices in Buildertrend and/or other construction management software/app
