About The Position

DeBra-Kuempel is seeking a senior-level Business Development Professional to drive growth across the Columbus and Dayton markets by building strong industry relationships and leading the pursuit of large-scale HVAC, plumbing, piping, and electrical construction projects, typically exceeding $5M, across sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, food & beverage, and data centers. This role partners closely with internal Service, Electrical, Special Projects, Construction, and Controls teams to convert opportunities into revenue producing projects while promoting EMCOR National Agreements and DeBra-Kuempel’s full suite of capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Construction Management or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in mechanical construction industry sales, HVAC service contract sales, and/or related fields.
  • Proven track record of at least 3 years in direct outside sales, preferably within HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing/Piping, Service, or Controls.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills with the ability to engage decision-makers at all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to align sales planning with pipeline development to achieve revenue growth.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel) and willingness to learn additional software as needed.
  • Ability to track and manage opportunities using Excel or CRM platforms.
  • Maintains a professional presence and demonstrates reliability, accountability and team collaboration.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% local travel (Dayton & Columbus) to meet customers, attend meetings, entertain, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the Healthcare and Commercial property sectors is highly desirable.
  • Experience using ZoomInfo or similar B2B databases preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand strategic relationships across the Columbus & Dayton market, targeting industries such as Food & Beverage, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, and Data Centers.
  • Identify, pursue and qualify large scale construction opportunities (typically $5+M) using a combination of company-provided B2B databases, market intelligence and personal industry relationships.
  • Lead the front-end business development process by partnering closely with internal teams, including Service, Electrical, Special Projects, Construction, and Controls convert leads into revenue-generating projects.
  • Promote and implement EMCOR National Agreements and DeBra-Kuempel’s full portfolio of mechanical, controls and service capabilities within the assigned territory.
  • Represent DeBra-Kuempel externally at industry events, trade shows and chamber functions (including the Columbus Chamber of Commerce) to increase brand visibility and foster strategic partnerships.
  • Apply active listening and consultative selling techniques to identify customer needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Develop and present compelling proposals, coordinating technical resources as needed to development full scope of services and pricing strategy necessary for successful deal closure.
  • Maintain consistent follow-up throughout the sales cycle and utilize available technical resources to support customer engagement.
  • Cross-sell capabilities from other specialized DeBra-Kuempel offices, such as BIM services and scaffolding services from Cincinnati.
  • Track and maintain sales activities using using CRM tools, ensuring accurate forecasting and pipeline visibility within the Columbus and Dayton markets.
  • Support the local initiatives of the Dayton Fabrication facility, as warranted.
  • Conduct ongoing market analysis and recommend strategic adjustments to meet growth targets and stay competitive.
