About The Position

Ragnar Benson, a MasTec Company is in search of a Project Manager to support our passenger and heavy rail construction, mid-to-large size healthcare, higher education and commercial building projects acorss the United States. Travel & Location: You can be based anywhere in the United States. This is a traveling position encompassing work sites across the United States. You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the US. We offer designated per diem in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses during the travel rotation. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided. Must be capable of up to 75% travel (e.g. 3 weeks or 15 days per month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Construction Management or related major. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 4 years of construction industry experience/knowledge of construction techniques, estimating and construction management.
  • Previous experience with heavy industrial mechanical projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical construction. Specifically heavy industrial piping and equipment, and conveyance systems.
  • Experience with self-perform and subcontracted work.
  • Desire to learn and grow.
  • Sound organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Resourceful problem solver.
  • Ability to multitask with a diverse workload and operate in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Good communicator.
  • Write reports, business correspondence and document project activities.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from superintendents, clients, customers, top management, and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Bid Phase
  • Understand SOW and bid breakdown to allow for efficient estimation of the project.
  • Work with estimating team to identify scopes and determine self-perform vs subcontracted work.
  • Provide SOW and bid tab to subcontractors with all required information to allow for competitive bid of non self-perform work.
  • Work with vendors to quote all major equipment that will be purchased by RB.
  • Review bids and compile bid tab for all scopes and equipment.
  • Identify any scope gaps and evaluate risks within bid.
  • Review estimate and proposal with management team.
  • After Award
  • Lead safety effort and culture for the project.
  • Lead weekly and monthly meetings/reports with client detailing construction progress and status.
  • Ensure all required contractual notifications and forms are submitted per contract dates.
  • Maintain and update project schedule and budgets.
  • Produce accurate billings per the contract terms and dates.
  • Pre-Construction
  • Work with Project Engineer to setup the Project in Procore.
  • Develop cadence and lead meetings with client, engineering, subcontractors and vendors as required.
  • Lead procurement and subcontracting efforts for the project with the support of the Project Engineer.
  • Develop and maintain baseline schedule, enter / track budget in accounting system, develop cash flow.
  • Work with safety and quality to develop Project/Site Safety Plan and Quality Plan.
  • Construction
  • Ensure accurate tracking of progress and update schedule accordingly.
  • Support field Construction Manager as required to allow for efficient execution of the project.
  • Complete change orders promptly as they are discovered or occur.
  • Project Closeout
  • Ensure all project documentation and turnover packages are delivered to the customer.
  • General Business
  • Think strategically and collaborate on new ideas that enhance company effectiveness.
  • Give feedback on processes and strategies to streamline operations both internally within the office and externally in the field execution.
  • Lead, promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required.
