The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the city. The Bureau of Water Supply seeks to hire an Assistant Civil Engineer (ACE) for a position in Valhalla New York, in the Infrastructure Planning, Design & Construction (IPD&C) group, Capital Programs Directorate. The IPD&C group is responsible for planning, design and construction of the Bureau’s capital projects to serve as construction project engineer to support the overall portfolio of projects designed via IPD&C managed on-call design contracts. The Construction Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the Chief of Construction Management in the assignment, tracking, and monitoring of task orders under IPD&C managed on call contract CAT491, CAT531, and upcoming CRO655CM. Under supervision, the Assistant Civil Engineer (ACE) is responsible for planning and coordinating the design of moderate complex capital projects from scope, design, and construction phases. The Assistant Civil Engineer (ACE) engages in research, investigation, or studies related to the engineering functions or activities for DEP. Participates in field surveys and inspection operations by observing, checking and certifying the installation of materials and equipment, attests to equipment performance and tests of materials.
