S&ME is looking for eager and dedicated full-time Construction Materials Engineering Technicians of all levels to join our Construction Services team in Nashville, Tennessee . Our Construction Materials Engineering Technicians are essential to getting the job done right. From day one, you'll be in the field helping ensure that the materials used to build everything from restaurants to stadiums meet the right standards for quality and safety. Your Day-to-Day: Just starting out? No problem, we provide on-the-job training, mentorship, and a clear path for growth. No two days are the same, and you'll gain valuable experience fast. Experience shifting work hours based on project needs and weather conditions, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half). Requirements

  • All Experience Levels:
  • Associate Technician/Technician I: 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Technician II: 2+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
  • Technician III: 3+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
  • Technician IV: 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Attention to detail and good communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • Math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
  • The understanding of a fluctuating schedule and interest in occasional travel
  • You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as: Working outdoors with your hand's majority of the time in varying weather conditions Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for long periods, potentially up to 12 hours a day Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment) Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites
  • Candidates must comply with our Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements.
  • Only candidates with valid employment eligibility (I-9) will be considered.

  • Experience in overseeing and mentoring junior staff, a plus

Responsibilities

  • Performing field and laboratory testing on construction materials like concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates.
  • Collecting and preparing samples for analysis.
  • Interpreting test results and preparing detailed reports.
  • Working closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
