About The Position

The Construction Manager will oversee the construction actives conducted by field personnel ensuring the project(s) are executed safely within the allotted time frame and within budget. These actives can include but are not limited to general construction (i.e., electrical, concrete, civil) or be more technical in nature (i.e., wireless, DAS, structural modification, tower erection, generator installation & service). This is a Safety-Sensitive position.

Requirements

  • Must have industry experience (i.e., electrical, tower, DAS, civil, etc.)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and have basic computer skills
  • Must understand construction management processes, methods and the ability to manage and work within a budget
  • Must have knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
  • Must be able to plan and see the “Big Picture”
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and by email with team members and customers
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions
  • Must be self-motivated with the desire to learn new things and project a positive attitude toward others in all work-related settings
  • Must be competent in conflict resolution and incident management
  • Must have leadership and coaching skills
  • Must be able to work on a team and independently as required
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Experience in construction management (6 years preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Upholds the Company’s Core Value of Safety over production
  • Conduct routine documented Site Visits (i.e., safety audits) of active projects (i.e., rooftops, towers, right-of-way installations) verifying that all safety related items are in alignment with Company policy
  • Review Job Hazard Analysis (i.e., JHA) and other safety related documentation
  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with health & safety, and environmental regulations
  • Understand job specifications, plans, and scope(s) and develop or implement appropriate construction sequencing to ensure the project is executed safely and efficiently
  • Schedule project resources while maintaining reasonable expectations in alignment with Company policy, budget, and customer deadlines or expectations
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, concerns, or project related issues
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing and/or validating project scope and overall costs for bidding/budgeting purposes
  • Provide real time project updates to include but not limited to progress and cost tracking
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to interpret and understand plans and contract terms
  • Execute various scopes of work in accordance with contractual obligations
  • Develop contingency plans to minimize project delays (i.e., weather, material shortages, etc.)
  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with applicable building codes and other local, state, and federal regulations
  • Direct and supervise internal and external resources engaged in assigned project(s)
  • Coach, mentor, and train team members and direct reports by providing continual guidance, performance feedback, and training opportunities to foster professional growth
  • Complete project related documentation in a timely manner
  • Requisition supplies or materials to complete construction projects
  • Investigate damage or delays at construction sites to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out
  • Recommend corrective action(s) and track resolution(s)
  • Determine labor requirements for dispatching workers to construction sites
  • Evaluate construction methods and help determine cost-effectiveness of assigned project
  • Help develop and implement environmental protection programs
  • Other duties as assigned
