About The Position

Arcadis seeks a Construction Manager - Utilities to join the Los Angeles team responsible for on-site construction management activities and will be the secondary point of contact with the contractor during the construction phase. In this role, you will review the progress of the work to assure compliance with the contract documents. You will ensure appropriate measurements and payments are made as necessary, and all project documentation is completed in accordance with policies and procedures. Additionally, you will proactively review the contract documents to anticipate, identify, and/or assist with preparing any change orders needed to resolve conflicts and/or recommend improvements.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in civil construction with approximately 5 years in the construction of transit projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering
  • Valid California Class C driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with California Public Utilities Commission.
  • Experience with utilities in major urban streets desired.
  • Experience as an assistant construction manager or resident engineer on projects of similar size and complexity valued over $30 million.
  • Cal/OSHA 30 training certification prior to the start of work.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Construction Manager to effectively carry out assigned Transit projects involving the development and/or modification of this existing underground and overhead infrastructure to include sewer, water, drainage, gas, electrical, and mechanical.
  • Engage in the review and response process for submittals, RFI (Request for Information), RFCs (Requests for Change), design submittals, and claims.
  • Monitor the relocation or removal of existing utilities on transit projects, inducing known, unknown, unmarked, or abandoned utilities, along with the existing utilities the transit project utilities must work within the overall existing infrastructure.
  • Monitor and provide regular updates on the progress of construction activities.
  • Actively participate in various meetings pertaining to the project.
  • Offer technical expertise to support and substantiate contract changes.

  • The salary range for this position is $160,000- $205,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
