What You Will Do As a Sprinkler Construction Manager, you will lead the profitable execution of assigned installation projects—from early development through final delivery. You’ll partner with Owner and Contractor Sales Managers, Branch Installation Leaders, and cross‑functional teams to support strategic decisions early in the project lifecycle, including: Project strategy and development Vendor and partner selection Scope enhancements and value engineering Risk assessment and mitigation You will ensure that every project is delivered accurately, on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining positive cash flow. You’ll also take an active role in identifying and selling change orders and safeguarding compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations. Above all, you’ll uphold Johnson Controls’ highest standards of safety, ethics, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 5 years of Fire Sprinkler field experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information for non‑technical audiences
  • Willingness and ability to travel based on project needs
  • Proficiency with project management software and financial accounting systems
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)

  • NICET Water‑Based Layout certification
  • Technical or 4 year Degree

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on‑site leader for assigned project execution teams.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely and organized delivery.
  • Review contractual scope and assess impacts of field directives, customer bulletins, and scheduling adjustments.
  • Pursue and negotiate change orders; prepare proposals and finalize settlement pricing.
  • Manage cost controls, billing, forecasting, and collections to ensure profitability and positive cash flow.
  • Monitor financial systems and project schedules to proactively identify and address potential concerns.
  • Use Microsoft Project to track progress, assess risks, and plan recovery actions.
  • Resolve disputes and challenges with minimal need for escalation.
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and recognized installation techniques.
  • Manage material selection, ordering, scheduling, and delivery coordination.
  • Ensure documentation meets contract requirements and Johnson Controls standards.
  • Build and maintain strong long‑term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate customer training needs for select Mechanical projects.
  • Provide direction to Truck‑Based teams supporting assigned projects.
  • Support Sales and Area Leadership in pre‑audit and early project development activities, including vendor selection, value engineering, and risk evaluation.
