About The Position

CARIAN is seeking an experienced Construction Manager – Overhead Transmission to support a major 500kV EHV transmission line insulator replacement program in Southern New Jersey. This is a field-based role requiring deep expertise in outside plant, overhead transmission construction, including experience working in helicopter-assisted construction environments. The Construction Manager will provide day-to-day construction oversight, contractor coordination, and safety leadership, serving as a key field authority supporting safe execution, quality, and schedule adherence on a high-consequence transmission program.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in overhead electric transmission construction
  • Demonstrated experience on EHV transmission lines (230kV+ required; 500kV preferred)
  • Prior experience working in helicopter-assisted transmission construction environments strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of outside plant and overhead transmission facilities
  • Familiarity with air-ground coordination concepts and aviation-related safety protocols
  • Utility transmission construction experience required
  • OSHA 10/30 (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to work extended field hours and travel daily within the project corridor

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site construction management oversight for overhead EHV transmission work
  • Coordinate daily field activities involving helicopter-assisted construction and long-line operations
  • Interface with helicopter pilots, air-ground coordination personnel, ground crews, and contractors
  • Ensure compliance with approved safety plans, lift plans, job briefings, and exclusion zones
  • Oversee insulator replacement activities and verify work meets utility standards and specifications
  • Lead and participate in daily tailboards and safety meetings
  • Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and safety compliance
  • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are identified
  • Coordinate with utility representatives, outage planners, and project leadership
  • Support field documentation, reporting, and issue resolution
