Primary Purpose This position provides guidance on historical designs, fosters innovation toward standardization, and offers technical leadership while mentoring engineers in the department. Transmission Overhead spans more than 5000 circuit miles and oversees projects with voltages at the 69kV, 138kV, 345kV, & 765kV that involves clearance analysis, PLS-CADD Modeling & Design, and modifications or new installations of transmission structures, switches, and conductors. Transmission Overhead design requires complex coordination with multiple stakeholders such as FAA coordination, environmental groups, permitting bodies, and municipalities engagement, and it has added complexities due to FERC and NERC compliance requirements. Transmission Overhead is looking for a candidate with knowledge of PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, and FAD Tools to ensure seamless integration with the team and the continued success and reliable system operation. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
2 - 4 years of professional engineering experience
Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.
Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.
General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform assignments for a specific discipline, various installations, or services

Responsibilities

Performs engineering assignments while exercising independent discretion under the guidance of an experienced engineer. (e.g. Collect data, perform complex analysis, interpret results, draw conclusions, and clearly present a recommendation to management)
Performs engineering tasks associated with large projects or a number of small projects. (e.g. Analyze and interpret the results of complex power flows and perform complex engineering tests, and analyze non-specific and ambiguous results)
May direct the engineering tasks associated with a large project or a number of small projects (e.g. Verify and validate studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices. Design high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria)
Participates on teams and may lead teams.

Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $83,200.00/Yr. – $114,400.00/Yr.
