About The Position

Interns at Blakley's Commercial Flooring Division will gain hands-on experience in both field operations and office management within the commercial flooring division. This role is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the industry by splitting time between being a field Superintendent and collaborating with Project Managers and Estimators. The intern will learn the practical aspects of fieldwork as well as the strategic elements of project management and estimation.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university, preferably pursuing a degree related to construction management, business, or a related field. However, candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Previous experience or exposure to the construction or flooring industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience in a professional setting that demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to both field and office environments.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and clients.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and an ability to learn new software tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to take initiative and show enthusiasm for learning and development in the commercial flooring division.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the field Superintendent in overseeing daily operations and ensuring project timelines are met.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Estimators to understand project requirements and contribute to planning and execution.
  • Participate in site visits to gain practical insights into the commercial flooring processes.
  • Support the team in maintaining accurate project documentation and reports.
  • Engage in learning opportunities to understand both the technical and administrative aspects of the flooring division.
  • Contribute to team meetings and discussions, offering fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.
  • Develop a foundational knowledge of safety standards and quality control measures in the field.
