Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management or construction science.
  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid experience in construction management.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

  • Transcripts: valid unofficial copies of your transcript showing conferred/awarded date; your name and the academic institution’s name/logo are required.   • Applicants with degrees from non-U.S. educational institutions or programs will need to submit a foreign credentials evaluation (FCE) as a condition of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of industry experience as hands-on within the construction and trades industry.
  • Two years of demonstrated recent experience teaching construction management courses, including quality assurance and quality control, and construction graphics, at a community college level.
  • Working knowledge of the current construction industry trends and workforce.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to educate adult learners, students of color, students with disabilities, and international students.
  • Working knowledge of contemporary online education delivery platforms, including configuration tools.

Responsibilities

  • Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching Construction Management courses, including construction quality assurance, scheduling, estimating, soils and concrete, building organization and technology.
  • Revision and development of instructional materials as well as assessment of student outcomes is assumed.
  • Participation in discipline, division, and college matters through service on committees and attendance at regular meetings as well as continued professional development.
  • Flexible to teach day, evening or weekend sections.
  • Dedication to excellence in teaching and have the desire to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community.
  • Will practice contemporary teaching strategies, including learner outcome assessments and online instruction.
  • Availability to teach classes on campus as well as at off-campus sites and meet during daytime hours, in the evenings, on weekends, and online.
  • Continue the professionalism of an active scholar, participate in departmental and campus-wide matters to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission.
