About The Position

The Construction Leader supports the Project Management team in the safe and successful execution of capital projects at a major power‑generation facility. This role requires hands‑on field oversight, strong technical judgment, and the ability to collaborate with contractors, engineers, and site leadership. Candidates must have experience in large power plants and major equipment systems (turbines, generators, pumps, motors, control systems, electrical/I&C, and balance‑of‑plant). This is a field‑intensive role requiring physical mobility and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in construction, engineering, or industrial field operations.
  • Working knowledge of power‑generation facilities, equipment, and field construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
  • Strong skills in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling work to meet construction deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with OSHA industrial safety practices; OSHA‑10 preferred.
  • Ability to work in field conditions including confined spaces, climbing ladders/stairs, and wearing a respirator.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to self‑manage travel between assigned sites.
  • Occasional travel required to the Corporate Office in Richmond, VA (Canal Place).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Safety and Environmental Compliance as the top priority for all project activities.
  • Spend 80%+ of the workday in the field, monitoring contractor performance and resolving issues in real time.
  • Perform construction oversight inspections to verify quality of work, materials, and adherence to specifications.
  • Review contractor activities for compliance with the Scope of Work (SOW), Dominion standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify deviations from contract specifications and escalate to the Construction Manager or Project Manager.
  • Provide daily updates, inspection reports, and status summaries to project leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, safety teams, and management regarding field issues or concerns.
  • Ensure products and services delivered match the purchase order requirements and will perform as intended.
  • Understand and apply Dominion’s Supplemental Terms & Conditions, including safety and environmental expectations.
