The Construction Inspector is responsible for monitoring and evaluating contractor performance to ensure construction projects are executed in full compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves critical on-site inspection, documentation, and communication to support the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient projects. Key responsibilities include maintaining a thorough understanding of project plans, specifications, approved drawings, schedules, regulations, and safety standards. The Construction Inspector assesses contractor performance against established quality standards, identifies potential issues or changed site conditions, and reports findings to project management for timely resolution. This role serves as a WMATA escort for field inspection teams at job sites and within Bus and Rail operating facilities, ensuring site access coordination and safety compliance. The Construction Inspector also prepares technical correspondence and drafts letters for the Authority Representative on matters that require specialized technical expertise. The position requires the use of electronic tools, including digital cameras, laptops, radios, and mobile devices, to document field conditions, manage reports, and communicate updates. Strong attention to detail, technical knowledge of construction methods and standards, and effective communication are essential to ensure the successful oversight of WMATA's construction projects.
