About The Position

Barr is seeking a Construction Inspector – Senior Level to support our Construction observation work for hydroelectric facility projects. This is a remote temporary position running approximately from February through December 2026, with the possibility of extension based on workload and performance. Work will involve out‑of‑town assignments in Wisconsin. In this role, you will support multidisciplinary teams by providing field observation, documentation, coordination, and communication to best ensure projects are completed according to approved plans and specifications. A successful person in this role is detail‑oriented, self‑directed on job sites, communicates effectively across teams, and is committed to high‑quality client service. Remote: a remote work arrangement may be considered for this position. A remote arrangement refers to working primarily from a home office. Remote arrangements will be considered based on candidate qualifications, local regulations, and Barr’s needs. Travel expectation: this role requires significant domestic fieldwork with extended continuous job site presence. Work environment: field locations may include rough terrain typical of construction sites with limited accessibility and active industrial facilities with moving machinery. Candidates must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements: ability to navigate construction sites and industrial environments; additional physical requirements may apply based on project needs.

Requirements

  • Education: bachelor’s degree in geotechnical engineering, geology, or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience: minimum 10 years of experience in construction oversight, including anchor drilling and testing on hydroelectric facilities.
  • Ability to work independently on job sites and manage large projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and track detailed information.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively in project teams.
  • Flexible working style with the ability to adjust schedules to meet project or client needs.
  • Driver’s license: possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Construction observation and documentation: conduct on‑site observation of construction activities; maintain detailed daily records; verify work is being completed in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Project coordination: act as liaison between owners, engineers, and contractors; assist project managers with scheduling and document control.
  • Field oversight: observe field operations including anchor drilling and testing; monitor multiple concurrent work activities; attend progress and safety meetings.
  • Materials and submittals: assist with material acquisition; manage shop drawings, submittals, and final construction documentation.
  • Travel and site presence: this position requires frequent travel and extended onsite presence at hydroelectric construction locations in Wisconsin.
