About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Construction IET Instructor to teach the vocational (construction) components of the IET model. This instructor will lead classroom-based instruction and coordinate hands-on training experiences, helping adult learners gain industry-recognized credentials and develop both technical and soft skills necessary for success in a construction career. Participants who complete the program will earn certifications in: OSHA 10 (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Forklift Operation CPR and First Aid The intent of this job description is to provide a representation description of the types of duties and responsibilities required for this position. Employees may be asked to perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated construction experience (5+ years preferred).
  • Familiarity with Construction and OSHA 10 curriculum, like ClickSafety/Carersafe, NCCER etc.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • NCCER Instructor Certification.
  • OSHA Authorized Trainer Certification.
  • Prior experience teaching or training in adult education or workforce development settings.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction using the Career Pathways Construction Industry Curriculum-TCALL, NCCER Fast Track or Core Curriculum and CareerSafe OSHA 10 materials.
  • Collaborate with the AEL (Adult Education and Literacy) instructor to align workforce training with contextualized literacy, numeracy, and employability skills.
  • Facilitate hands-on learning activities that simulate real-world construction tasks.
  • Prepare students for OSHA 10 certification and entry-level construction roles.
  • Support the development of soft skills using the CareerSafe: Employment Skills, Work Wise series (e.g., teamwork, punctuality, communication, problem-solving).
  • Supervise students during job site experiences and ensure safety compliance.
  • Provide mentorship and motivation, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in planning and debrief sessions with UCAEL and CCDI staff.
  • Track student progress and complete necessary assessments and documentation
