Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, and rollers. Perform site preparation tasks including grading, trenching, and material movement. Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections and report any mechanical issues. Follow site plans, grade stakes, and supervisor instructions to complete tasks accurately. Maintain equipment cleanliness and assist with minor maintenance as needed. Work closely with laborers, foremen, and other operators to ensure project efficiency. Adhere to all safety regulations, traffic control procedures, and company policies. Assist with loading/unloading materials and other site duties when not operating equipment. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job progress and safety concerns.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction setting
  • Proficient in the safe operation of multiple types of heavy machinery
  • Knowledge of construction site safety practices and procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans and grade stakes
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Background check and drug screen required
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification
  • CDL Class A or B license
  • NCCER or other recognized equipment operator certification
  • Experience with GPS or laser-guided equipment systems
