About The Position

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) organization is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Construction Growth & Transformation Lead to accelerate the construction process, drive innovation, and drive growth strategy for our Datacenter Construction organization. As a leader, you will be responsible for shaping the future of our datacenter delivery, ensuring we invest in the right construction technology and techniques, enabling adoption of industry best practices and implement fit for purpose innovative practices to accelerate speed to market. This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation support will be provided, and candidates are required to ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to (40) %.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Background Check Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute comprehensive Construction Project Execution Planning strategies and mechanisms aligned with CO+I EPC’s goals, ensuring consistent, scalable, and high‑quality delivery outcomes.
  • Lead transformation initiatives by collaborating across functions to build business cases, conduct feasibility and cost‑benefit analyses, secure cross‑level alignment, and ensure on‑time implementation of solutions.
  • Influence upstream processes to strengthen speed to market, elevate on time delivery performance, and improve schedule predictability.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships and collaborative operating models with EPC stakeholders in datacenter design, supply chain, risk management, and end‑to‑end program management, as well as with General Contractors and Trade Partners.
  • Set priorities for growth strategy initiatives based on organizational OKRs, resource availability, and emerging industry trends.
  • Identify and champion opportunities to leverage advanced construction techniques that accelerate speed to market, enhance operational efficiency, and improve operational readiness.
  • Identify emerging and industry‑leading construction technologies, methods, and best practices, and develop adoption strategies that strengthen execution performance.
  • Engage with industry forums, startups, and leading universities to surface fit‑for‑purpose innovations and bring them into the EPC ecosystem.
  • Partner closely with executives, business leaders, and technical teams to gather requirements, communicate progress, and ensure alignment with construction delivery optimization and growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with regional construction leaders and project managers to identify optimization and acceleration opportunities and develop actionable strategies to implement them.
  • Create and maintain best practices that incorporate cost‑effective, scalable, and repeatable solutions across the portfolio.
  • Build and reinforce a culture of innovation, clearly communicating its importance and embedding mechanisms that encourage ideation, design thinking, and incubation of new concepts.
  • Establish systems that tap into collective organizational knowledge, enabling the promotion, evaluation, and scaling of high‑value ideas.
  • Explore and evaluate opportunities for strategic innovation partnerships, ensuring alignment with business needs and long-term value creation.
  • Ensure cost, risk, and value considerations are thoroughly evaluated in the development of innovation strategies and business processes.
  • Synthesize complex concepts and models into integrated visions or solutions, even in areas with no existing roadmap or precedent.
