Position Overview A paving construction foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating asphalt paving operations on highways, streets, and other roadways. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage crews effectively.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in asphalt paving, with a focus on highway construction
  • Valid commercial driver's license with ability to drive company provided vehicle
  • Knowledge of road construction methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and perform physical labor
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and quality control procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Ability to work in a safety sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of asphalt paving crews, subcontractors, and inspectors
  • Plan, schedule, and direct daily paving operations and projects
  • Ensure work quality meets safety standards and project specifications
  • Operate and maintain paving equipment as needed
  • Monitor and control project budgets, schedules, and material usage
  • Ability to brief crew members at daily/weekly safety tailgates
  • Train and evaluate crew members on proper techniques and safety procedures
  • Communicate with project managers and superintendents regarding progress and issues
  • Interpret construction plans and ensure compliance with contract requirements
  • Producing and submitting daily timecards for crew on a timely basis
  • Comply and enforce company's environmental, health and safety policies as well as ensuring all crew members comply with safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE and adhere to company's code of business.
