About The Position

Monkey in the Metal is a leader in custom wood and metal fabrication, crafting one-of-a-kind furniture, architectural elements, signage, and art for commercial and public spaces. Based in Baltimore, we have been creating unique design solutions for multifamily, commercial, institutional, and public spaces since 2012. Our projects, ranging from custom restaurant buildouts to sleek office renovations, showcase the intersection of interior design and craftsmanship. We are looking for a skilled and hands-on Construction Foreman / Lead Fabricator with strong commercial construction experience. If you have a sharp eye for detail, excel in managing high-end interior projects, and enjoy turning design visions into reality, we want you on our team. In this role, you'll lead on-site teams, coordinate with designers and contractors, and ensure that projects are completed to the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role
  • Strong knowledge of commercial interior construction methods, finishes, and sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical shop drawings
  • A calm and focused leader with the ability to coordinate crews and juggle multiple tasks while maintaining quality
  • Comfortable working with tools, field equipment, and hands-on tasks when necessary
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with custom fabrication or architectural millwork is a major plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site teams to execute high-end commercial interior projects, including retail, restaurants, offices, and mixed-use spaces
  • Work closely with designers, general contractors, and internal teams to translate design intent into buildable results
  • Manage daily site operations, subcontractors, materials, and timelines
  • Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and custom fabrication details accurately
  • Ensure safety protocols, cleanliness, and high site standards are consistently met
  • Solve field challenges and communicate updates to project stakeholders
  • Oversee the installation of custom-fabricated components including wood, metal, and hybrid features
