As a Construction Estimator at NBC, you are at the intersection of vision and viability.
Your day may begin with meeting with potential clients to assess their goals, evaluate site conditions, and explore design ideas. You'll help clarify their vision, offer practical suggestions, and work alongside architects, designers, and engineers to shape concepts into defined scopes.
From there, you'll move into detailed estimating - developing accurate budgetary estimates, refining scopes, coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, and ensuring financial feasibility. You'll maintain updated pricing data, manage CRM information, and collaborate with leadership to align projects with revenue and margin targets.
You are not just pricing projects - you are helping translate ideas into realistic, buildable, and profitable outcomes.
Success in this role means consistently producing accurate, well-structured estimates that support profitable, efficiently executed projects. It also means contributing constructively to early-stage design discussions, helping clients refine their ideas into plans that can be confidently priced and built.
A successful Construction Estimator is organized, detail-oriented, and strategically minded - able to balance creativity with cost control. Strong communication with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams ensures alignment from concept through execution.

Requirements

• Strong construction estimating experience, including budgeting and cost analysis
• Proficiency in estimating software (Xactimate, Planswift, Buildertrend, or similar platforms)
• Ability to evaluate construction plans, scopes, and field conditions accurately
• Working knowledge or developing skill in drafting/design concepts to support early project vision
• Comfort collaborating with architects, designers, and engineers during project development
• Strong organizational skills and CRM management experience
• Clear communication skills when working with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
• Strategic mindset with the ability to refine processes and improve estimating systems
• Integrity, accountability, and professionalism in all client interactions

Nice To Haves

• Minimum 3 years in construction estimating, costing, or related construction leadership
• Experience in residential remodeling or light commercial construction
• Exposure to drafting software or plan review processes
• Ability to contribute ideas that help clients visualize functional, creative solutions
• Interest in continued growth into senior estimating or project leadership roles
