About The Position

We are seeking a part-time variable Construction Engineer to join our team in Oakland. In this role, you will be responsible for: Managing complex projects with minimal supervision, demonstrating high levels of autonomy and expertise. Assisting the Resident Engineer in overseeing project operations and ensuring compliance with established standards. Processing and reviewing submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and Requests for Changes (RFCs) in a timely and accurate manner. Monitoring and reporting on construction progress, maintaining detailed records and documentation. Participating in project meetings, providing valuable input and representing the company's interests. Coordinating and supervising field inspectors to ensure thorough and consistent site evaluations. Conducting field inspections and documenting Contractor activities in collaboration with the Resident Engineer. Performing field measurements and quantity calculations with precision and accuracy. Maintaining effective communication with clients, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Leading and mentoring a team of engineers and professional support personnel to achieve project objectives. Ensuring strict adherence to approved plans and specifications, maintaining the highest standards of quality control. Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of experience with construction of highways/roads/bridges.
  • Able to effectively communicate and negotiate with contractors and clients.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Caltrans highway/bridge construction and maintenance projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of highway/bridge design, construction and material.
  • Thorough knowledge of Caltrans specifications & construction contract administration procedures.
