About The Position

ACCIONA is a global company focused on developing regenerative infrastructure that positively impacts society, with a workforce of over 65,000 professionals across more than 40 countries. The company aims to design a better planet, promote sustainable development, and address global challenges like climate change, overpopulation, and water scarcity. This role is for the SR400 Express Lanes Project, a $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative by SR400 Constructors (a joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA). The project, commissioned by GDOT and SRTA, involves adding two 16-mile express lanes and includes bus rapid transit stations and bridge refurbishments. Construction is slated to begin in late 2025, with completion by 2031, and will involve a peak workforce of over 500. The Construction Engineering Coordinator will be crucial in supporting construction activities by coordinating, managing, and delivering engineering designs, primarily for temporary works but also for permanent works. This position acts as the main technical office contact for the construction team, ensuring designs are developed, reviewed, coordinated, and issued according to the project schedule and field requirements. The role emphasizes coordinating temporary works design (e.g., demolition plans, temporary pavements, walls, shoring, embankments, staging, traffic control) and providing ongoing support for permanent design packages, field changes, constructability resolutions, and quality compliance. The coordinator will be assigned to one of the three project segments and will manage interfaces between designers, subconsultants, and reviewers to ensure timely delivery and comment resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience supporting heavy civil or transportation construction projects, preferably with design‑construction interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of temporary works, construction sequencing, and field engineering support.
  • Familiarity with GDOT standards, specifications, and review processes.
  • Experience coordinating with design teams and subconsultants.
  • Proficiency with engineering and construction software such as Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Microstation, Procore, or similar tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and review cycles simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all engineering activities required to support construction, with primary responsibility for temporary works design such as demolition sequencing, temporary pavements, walls, embankments, shoring, and staging plans.
  • Act as the main technical liaison between the construction team and the Technical Office, reporting to the technical office manager and ensuring engineering solutions meet field requirements and construction sequencing needs.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants, design coordinators, and internal disciplines to ensure designs are delivered on time and aligned with construction priorities.
  • Monitor review workflows, track deliverables, and ensure all review comments are addressed and formally closed prior to issuance.
  • Provide engineering support for the permanent works on the assigned project segment, including responses to field changes, proposed design modifications, and constructability issues.
  • Support resolution of field changes, nonconformities, and technical issues arising during construction.
  • Review and coordinate shop drawings, working drawings, and technical submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements and constructability.
  • Manage and track RFIs, design clarifications, submittals, and shop drawings through review and approval cycles.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary reviews and ensure full incorporation of reviewer and stakeholder comments.
  • Maintain clear documentation of design decisions, revisions, and approvals.
  • Support short‑term and long‑term construction planning by aligning engineering deliverables with the construction schedule.
  • Assist with preparation of technical reports, design narratives, and supporting documentation for construction activities.
  • Support quality management by identifying, tracking, and coordinating resolution of non‑conforming work related to design or execution.
  • Conduct constructability and field reviews to verify that construction activities align with approved designs and specifications.
  • Support compliance with GDOT requirements, contract documents, and project‑specific engineering standards.
  • Coordinate closely with construction teams, subconsultants, designers, and discipline leads to maintain alignment on scope, schedule, and technical requirements.
  • Support coordination with GDOT, SRTA, utility owners, and other stakeholders as required for engineering reviews and approvals.
  • Foster proactive communication and collaboration across all project partners.
