The Construction Engineer is responsible for performing routine construction engineering assignments at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In this role, they apply a strong working knowledge of engineering practices and exercise professional judgment within established guidelines. The Construction Engineer may lead less experienced engineers or take responsibility for a specific discipline or segment of a project.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific discipline (or equivalent)
Eight (8) years of relevant experience (or combination of education and experience)
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Strong communicationand organizational skills
Ability to work through problems quickly and effectively and define a clear path to resolution

Responsibilities

Perform routine construction engineering assignments
Apply engineering principles and professional judgment within established guidelines
Support execution of construction projects and field activities
Provide guidance to less experienced construction engineers
Lead specific segments or scopes of construction projects
Support specialized engineering activities within a focused discipline
Maintainaccuratedocumentation and records related to job functions.
Collaborate with internal departments and external partners, as necessary.
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents to management.
Participate in required training sessions and safety briefings.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs.
