The Construction Engineer is responsible for performing routine construction engineering assignments at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In this role, they apply a strong working knowledge of engineering practices and exercise professional judgment within established guidelines. The Construction Engineer may lead less experienced engineers or take responsibility for a specific discipline or segment of a project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific discipline (or equivalent)
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience (or combination of education and experience)
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communicationand organizational skills
  • Ability to work through problems quickly and effectively and define a clear path to resolution

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine construction engineering assignments
  • Apply engineering principles and professional judgment within established guidelines
  • Support execution of construction projects and field activities
  • Provide guidance to less experienced construction engineers
  • Lead specific segments or scopes of construction projects
  • Support specialized engineering activities within a focused discipline
  • Maintainaccuratedocumentation and records related to job functions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners, as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents to management.
  • Participate in required training sessions and safety briefings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs.
