The City of Roanoke's Department of Public Works is seeking a Maintenance Technician IV - Construction Crew Lead to serve in the Stormwater Division. This position supervises and participates in the work of a crew responsible for stormwater maintenance and new construction projects. The role includes direct supervision of approximately five field operations staff, as well as oversight of various division contracts. Key Responsibilities Assign, direct, and supervise the work of a diverse team of maintenance workers and technicians on stormwater projects. Order and track Miss Utility location tickets. Coordinate daily work schedules, track job progress, and inspect worksites. Enforce all safety standards, including work zone safety. Provide leadership that emphasizes problem solving, decision-making, and effective communication-fostering a culture of respect, teamwork, and successful project completion. Operate and supervise the use of various heavy and light construction equipment. Apply knowledge of construction site layout techniques; read and interpret construction drawings and sketches; and utilize a builder's level. Use computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, QAlert, WinCan, ArcGIS, and VueWorks to support project planning and documentation. Coordinate with other departments and technical personnel as needed. Assist with City-wide snow removal efforts, special events, and other emergency tasks, including some nights and weekends. Complete additional assignments in support of division needs.
